Kolkata Gets Its First Hanging Restaurant

After Paris and Malaysia, it is now Kolkata’s turn to get its very own hanging restaurant. Another addition to the city’s many wonders, The Oval Lounge restaurant is perched on the 55 meter high Kolkata Gate at Rabindra Tirtha in New Town. The project was completed on the 27th of January but is yet to open its doors to guests.
If you are in Kolkata in no way could you not be introduced to the biswa bangla gate or the Kolkata gate. There have been speculations about it, be it the design , the Biswa Bangla Globe, the gallery or Kolkata's first hanging restaurant .

This project is part of the New Town development project of the West Bengal Government. Guests can enjoy a 360 degree view of the surroundings from this mammoth structure. It looks great and is made of the roughly 70 tonnes of steel (not verified),also costs around RS 25 Cr. It would also provide a viewpoint of major areas in Rajarhat and New Town. Designed by the West Bengal Chief Minister herself, Kolkata Gate’s construction started on March 2017. The place, after opening, will have a visitor’s gallery and Kolkata’s first ever hanging restaurant. However, further details about the restaurant and the opening date are yet to be revealed.
Kolkata now has an all-new restaurant that is hanging! Yes, Biswa Bangla Gate now has a restaurant that is the city’s first hanging restaurant of the city. At Biswa Bangla restaurant, you can get a stupendous bird’s-eye view of the city, which can seat 72 people, but for now it is opening for 50 people. Firhad Hakim, Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Minister, West Bengal, recently inaugurated this hanging restaurant in New Town, Kolkata. The Biswa Bangla Gate is now one of the most attractive places to visit in Kolkata. The restaurant is a fine-dining haven that would be open from 7 pm to 10 pm, after the entry to Biswa Bangla Gate gets closed for general public viewing. If you want a romantic dinner watching the beautiful cityscape of Kolkata with its tiny lights illuminated, then nothing can be better than this.
The Biswa Bangla Gate also has a viewing gallery that would be open from 12 pm to 5 pm, and you will have to purchase tickets for this online. Visitors would be permitted to stay there for an hour. 25 m above the ground, the gallery can be reached with the help of elevators that have been installed here. The gallery will have on display Bengal’s rich culture and history. The experience takes a step further with special lightings that are put in place to exhibit a different feeling. You also have battery-powered candles that would serve as a prop for a romantic candle light dinner. The place also has Wi-Fi.
